11000 runners pass over Stadia colours signage

5th December 2018

The world renowned Comrades Marathon that is run annually between the cities of Durban and Pietermaritzburg had a change of finishing venue from the Kingsmead Cricket Stadium to the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban for this year’s event. This necessitated having to apply the three dimensional branding to the artificial turf that surrounds the main soccer pitch. Normal Stadia colours were used to apply the branding and, despite initial concern that the markings would withstand having 11000 runners passing over the signage, there was no evidence of any wear and tare after the event. The attached photos taken three weeks after the event clearly show the durability of the Stadia. It was indeed pleasing to note that the use of a rotary brush and water a week later removed all evidence that there had been any signage painted on the artificial grass.
